Q5b: I own my flat so why am I called a Tenant? Who is my Landlord?
A: Since this is a Leasehold development all residents are ultimately tenants of the Freeholder. The nature of that tenancy, and thus your legal relationship, depends on the type of lease you have:-
- those who rent here have contracts with their landlord – who in turn will have a lease with either Central Street Properties (Pear Tree) Limited or One Housing;
- those who own homes originally sold by Mount Anvil have leases with Central Street Properties (Pear Tree) Limited; and
- those who own homes originally sold by One Housing have leases with One Housing (even if fully staircased) – One Housing in turn has a 999 year lease with Central Street Properties (Pear Tree) Limited. One Housing is now part of the Riverside Group.
We encourage all residents to review their lease or rental contract, especially if you haven’t done so for a while.
